Affirmation
- a statement of fact, an internal cognitive act that establishes a specific course,
direction, outcome or state of being for the future, a confirmation or ratification of a
truth. Affirmations are trigger tools for the subconscious. With this form of positive
self-talk, using the principles of imaging where we want to be and visualizing that
picture along with the mental input of all our other sensory perceptions, we can establish
strong affirmations. These affirmations repeated to yourself will help create the outcome
desired, making it reality.

The shy man usually finds that he has been shy without cause,
and that, in
practice, no one takes the slightest notice of him.
--Robert Lynd
We sometimes feel self-conscious in front of others. It may be that we've just gotten
braces or a new haircut and we're afraid everyone will stare at us. We stop smiling and
talk with our heads bowed. Many people have worn braces and many more will. We need not be
ashamed just because we feel different. By beginning to smile again we will see how many
people really didn't notice our braces, or our haircuts, or anything but what they see
inside us.
All we need to do is lift our heads and smile. We will be amazed to find how little even
our best friends notice about the externals, the things that don't really matter. Who we
are is far more noticeable and far more important than what we look like. A smile at shy
times helps us accept ourselves as others do.

Finish each day
and be done with it,
Tomorrow is a new day;
begin it well.

Self-image sets the boundaries of individual accomplishment.
-- Maxwell Maltz

There can be no justice when laws are absolute. Life
itself is an exercise in exceptions. --
Jean-Luc Picard

Having got so far, what are the minimum requirements
to be fulfilled before we can say that the road ahead of us is open? There is only one,
but it is everything. It is that we should be assured the space and the chances to
fulfill
ourselves, that is to say, to progress till we arrive (directly or indirectly,
individually or collectively) at the utmost limits of ourselves.
-- Teilhard de Chardin,
The Phenomenon of Man

That which does not kill me makes me stronger.
-- Nietzsche

"People are unreasonable, illogical and self
centered. Love them anyway.
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives. Do good anyway.
If you are successful, you win false friends and true enemies. Succeed anyway.
The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway."
--
Mother Teresa

I love the vitality, confidence and strength I feel
as a result of steadily improving my mental and physical fitness.

For to be possessed of good mental powers is not
sufficient; the principal matter is to apply them well. -- Rene Descartes, Discourse

I will affirm myself even in the face of demeaning
comments. I have value, I am special. I am somebody and I do not let other people define
me. I am important and I am forever held lovingly in the hands of my Higher Power.

I control the width and depth of my life. I am behind
the wheel and I can make my life what I want. I am specific about what I want. I spell it
out. I commit to it and I do the footwork to make it happen.

I am somebody. I live with myself comfortably. I know
who I am and I accept myself unconditionally. I take responsibility for myself and for my
actions. I accept my strengths and my weaknesses. I believe in myself even if no one else
does. I am only truly honest when I let others know who I am, what I will stand for and
what I will not stand for. I stand up for myself, for my beliefs and for my values. I do
not fear others and I do not allow fear of others to control my life. What others think of
me is none of my business.

I AM CHRONICALLY HUMAN!!
The sign on my wall reads: "Good
morning, Linda. This is your Higher Power speaking.
I will not be needing your help
today."
(Author Unknown)

Regarding pain in relationships:
I have two lovely children and never
has one of them said, "I want to go over to see Tommy or Louise because they are
going to hit me in the head with a board".
(Hal Schippits)

A Chinese general put it this way: If the world is to be brought to
order, my nation must first be changed. If my nation is to be changed, my hometown must be made over. If my hometown is to be reordered, my family
must first be set right. If my
family is to be regenerated, I myself must first be.
(A. Purnell Bailey)

Man cannot remake himself without suffering.
For he is both the marble and the sculptor.

Look at a man the way that he is, he only becomes worse. But look at him as if he
were what he could be, and then he becomes what he should be."-Goethe-

If it is true, as I have tried to show, that love is
the only sane and satisfactory answer to the problem of human existence, then any society
which excludes, relatively, the development of love, must in the long run perish of its
own contradiction with the basic necessities of human nature.
-- Erich Fromm

"For that one brief fraction of a second, you
were open to options you had never considered. That is the journey that awaits you: not
mapping stars and studying nebulae, but charting the unknown possibilities of
existence."
- Q to Picard -

Your first obligation is to carry out
the mission
you are meant for, not what your father, mother, mate or friends say you should do. Your
mission will manifest in you when you decide
to listen to the desire of your heart.
(Naomi Stephan)

The jump is so frightening between where I am and
where I want to be . . . because of all I may become.
I will close my eyes and leap!
-- Maryanne Hershey

To be completely honest with oneself is the very best
effort a human being can make.
-- Sigmund Freud

Today I value myself and decide what rules I want to
live by. Today I know that I am exactly where I need to be doing exactly what is right for
me. I accept myself. I am good enough just the way I am!!!

I will hear what I need to hear today. I will open
myself to each and every word. I will not second guess and when in doubt, I will ask
questions and then listen to the answers. I will ask for and practice clarity in all my
communications.

I enjoy my work. I choose what work I want to do and
I do it well. I am grateful for the work I do and for the satisfaction, fun, joy,
fulfillment and life-style it brings me. I am competent and do my job in a professional
and courteous manner. I am respected in my field and am rewarded for my ability. I set a
good example for my employees. I like my employees and work with them on an equal footing.
I treat employees as I expect to be treated. I provide a fun, comfortable and rewarding
place for them to work. I am loyal. In turn, I receive loyalty.

I am continually learning. When I am ready for the
lesson, the teacher will appear. I will enjoy my role as a student and I will be
teachable. I recognize the difference between the message and the way it is communicated
to me.

The best years of your life are the ones in which you
decide your problems are your own. You do not blame them on your mother, the ecology or
the president. You realize that you control your own destiny.
(Albert Ellis)

All growth is a leap in the dark, a spontaneous
unpremeditated act without benefit of experience.
(Henry Miller)

You see things; and you say, "Why?" But I
dream things that never were; and I say, "Why not?"
-- George Bernard Shaw

Thoughts -- just mere thoughts -- are as powerful as
electric batteries -- as good for one as sunlight is, or as bad for one as poison.
-- Frances Hodgson Burnett

The things we hate about ourselves aren't more real
than things we like about ourselves.
-- Ellen Goodman
