We cannot have lived this long without having known some
tragedy. None of us is immune from crime, fire, accidents,
death. After the shock, terror and initial grief, we are often
driven back against ourselves. We ask, why me?
Or, why not me? Do I want to continue to live now? Do I
have the strength to carry on for even one more day?

Tragedy can bring out our authentic concern for one another.
Reaching out and accepting care and comfort can see us
through times that would otherwise be unbearable.

Living through a tragic event unmasks us, strips us of pretense.
This is who we are, this is what we have. It can get us in touch
with our deepest selves and regenerate our humanity. Tragedy
links us one to another, if we let it.

We can trust that our life experience has prepared us to survive.

PEACE! BE STILL!

While Jesus and His disciples were sailing across a lake one day, Jesus
fell asleep. As they continued sailing, a storm blew in, causing the
boat to toss about and begin to fill with water. The frightened
disciples woke Jesus, who immediately calmed the storm, saying "Peace!
Be still!"

When my life seems as out of control as a boat on troubled waters, I
quietly affirm those same words of wisdom: Peace! Be still!

As these empowering words resonate throughout my being, my soul rejoices
and I feel a sense of peace and comfort that transcends all emotions.

The greatest journey I can take is the one to a place within where I
will find the peace and comfort that I seek. And that Journey begins
with words Peace! Be still!

"He leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul."

"Keeper of the Seeds"

It's head slumped over facing the ground. It had been a familiar
site to me over the past several weeks. We did all that we could
to keep it alive so that it would grow to full maturity.

It did its part, we did ours. But it seemed its time had come.

I walked out onto my deck late last night in search of a place to
think. I had been riveted to the television most of the day,
watching in horror as the images of death and destruction were
replayed hundreds of times. I couldn't take it any more.

"How appropriate!" I thought to myself. I was standing on the
deck, my head lowered in anguish and confusion. I looked up and
there next to me was the huge sunflower that brightened my day
and in taking care of it, gave me purpose. We were connected in
a sense in a spiritual way. Both of us were created by God.

I wish that someone could have captured the moment on film. The
both of us stood there with our heads bowed. I believe it shared
my pain and in respect for the loss of my human family, it could
no longer stand tall.

But in reality I believe its time had come. It had grown fully
and it now would turn to seed. I realized then that it was all
part of the plan. In it's death came future life. It did not
disappear, never leaving a trace behind that it had ever existed
at all. No, to the contrary. For as they say, "All the flowers
of all the tomorrows are in the seeds of today."

So it is in the tragedy of the loss of so many innocent people.
Each and every one of them have gone to seed, leaving behind a
piece of who they were. It is now up to us to plant those seeds
to grow to full maturity. We have been given the opportunity to
grow something good, something positive for the future.

"For the possibility of peace in all our tomorrows, lie in the
tragedy of today."

I was reminded of how important this was when I woke up this
morning. Walking out to my deck, my head still bowed from the
weight of this loss, I looked up in astonishment. There before
me, head held high, was that same enormous sunflower. In
disbelief I ran down off the deck and faced it head on. Sure
enough it was true. The sunflower raised it's head to face the
morning sun.

So, my friends, we are the keeper of the seed. It is a new day,
a new time to raise our heads and face the sun. We have been
entrusted with the seeds of the lives lost. It is an awesome
responsibility.

Spiritual Essence - Guiding Tools

The Masters wish you to know that they are honored to be in our
presence. They also wish you to know that you are not alone, and they
offer up these tools to help guide you in the Awakening process.

Love does not feel attacked. Love does not attack.

These are very simple clues to tell when you are in ego or when you are
aligned with Divine Love. Use this as your simple measuring device to
keep you focused during these most challenging times.

The fact that the Pentagon was targeted is a loud message of
Defensiveness. The ego feels defensive and defenseless. The Power of
Divine Love is all protective. Divine Love does not feel threatened in
any way, shape or form. Use this as another measuring device to learn
to align yourself more and more with Love.

The fact that the World Trade Center was targeted is also a loud
message. A hub of our financial security. How insecure is the ego self
in clinging to the false sense of safety? And how insecure is the
collective ego self of America in depleting 80% of the World's resources
in order to feel secure, while the larger population in the Third World
goes without?

The Masters understand that it is difficult for the ego mind to grasp
paradox and that it's eyes are blind to seeing both sides of any issue.
But they guide us to look at our own prejudices and own them, embrace
them, and then let them go to rise above the "either/or" mentality to
the reality of "both/and." Both sides are always parts of the Truth.
When we choose to align ourselves with one side or the other, can you
not see how we align ourselves with Partial Truth and then claim that
ours is the right way and the only way? But that is the ego's way of
functioning.   Both sides are equal in their freedom to choose. When we
insist that others don't have the freedom to choose for themselves, we
also cut off our freedom. The day that we conquer our fear and grant
freedom to anything we view as our opposition....this is when the true
Freedom Bell will ring, first individually, then more globally. This
does not mean that we allow ourselves to be abused and attacked. This
means that when we release our very own ego's need to attack others, we
create an aura of peace around ourselves. We tend to think because we
are not personally out dropping bombs on others, that we are
automatically peacemakers. But how many times a day do our thoughts,
words or deeds attack either our own self-worth or attack others?

This is another way to measure whether the ego is in charge or if you
are making way for the Higher Self to shine through. Ask yourself how
many of your thoughts are set on attacking yourself or others. Then
merely stop yourself and forgive yourself and release it.

A very powerful statement from the Masters:

"Forgiveness is the 'potent' in omnipotent."

Forgiveness is an all powerful component of Divine Love. It begins with
self-forgiveness for all the ways we are holding others to blame for our
own acts of hurt to ourselves and others. There is only one universal
law and that is "With Harm to None." To choose to align with that will
bring more of that into our world. To be in opposition to that law
aligns us with the same actions as the perpetrators of the devastation
who play that role in this drama for our own self-reflection.

The Masters also say:
"To teach peace, one must Be Peaceful."

"Monica"

A man observed a woman in the grocery store with a
three year old girl in her basket. As they passed the
cookie section, the little girl asked for cookies and her
mother told her no. The little girl immediately began to
whine and fuss, and the mother said quietly, "Now Monica,
we just have half of the aisles left to go through; don't be
upset. It won't be long."

Soon they came to the candy aisle, and the little girl began
to shout for candy. And when told she couldn't have any,
began to cry. The mother said, "There, there, Monica,
don't cry--only two more aisles to go, and then we'll be
checking out."

When they got to the check-out stand, the little girl
immediately began to clamor for gum and burst into a
terrible tantrum upon discovering there'd be no gum
purchased. The mother patiently said, "Monica, we'll be
through this check out stand in 5 minutes and then you
can go home and have a nice nap."

The man followed them out to the parking lot and stopped
the woman to compliment her. "I couldn't help noticing
how patient you were with little Monica," he began.

Whereupon the mother said, "I'm Monica -- my little girl's
name is Tammy."

A darkness exploded into this country's reality
Bringing with it unmistakable horror
Whose very existence stopped the life's breath of ordinary day.
America watched in disbelief as the destruction of concrete and steel
Crumbled into the annihilation of self assurance.
A true horror imploded our very existence
Into a silence that impacted our words
As we search for meaning through the unbelievable
That was once vibrant spirit.
A busy whirl of life force has been replaced by an unbearable pain.
America weeps at the atrocity that is possible from humanity
Lacking the recognition of Divine love within.

Through her tears love's resolve begins to blossom,
Barely recognizable at first,
A pin point of Light within a darkened room,
But moving toward God's loving deluge for His creation.
Behind the pain America's strength is growing,
Awaiting its turn to heal,
Dissipating the darkened, anguish despair slowly
As each tear of love becomes a small beacon.
A quiet determination fuels inner resolve as movement begins again,
Love's power moving into the results of a mad man's fury.
So, from crippled knee we blossom into full stance
Caressing each other's tears,
Remembering our Divinity,
While locked in full united embrace of the indelible power
Formed by freedom's creation,
Freedom's birthright,
Freedom's light.

Through our anguish of remembering what was,
We see the true colors of love
Found in the individual souls of ourselves,
Light's true consciousness bringing forth a renewed life.
A different order based on love has beginning possibilities
As we look for the strength to see the Divinity in those
Who do not choose to live from righteousness.
Our Divine beacon within guides the way through this darkened path
That new options may be found among love's potential.

America's might lies not within the confines of steel structures
Towering above life's busy thoroughfares,
But lies instead within the blood of each citizen

Our strength is found within the steadfastness of our support for each other

The United States was founded as "One Nation Under God."
Since God is love,

A foundation based on love.
