Vicki, Thank you so much for your thoughtful and reassuring response. I read it the day that you posted it, and it was (and still is) very comforting. I still feel a lot of sadness and guilt over this poor dog, but it makes me feel better to have you say that he would have sensed that my intentions were good. You may be right that my role was only to give him a little loving and to remember him. I hope that there are others who also cared about him during his lifetime, and that he can now visit us whenever he wants to. Even though this has been a very painful experience, I am thankful that I was able to spend some time with him. You were very kind to respond to me, and I think you are terrific too. Amy
