If you provide free readings I would love to place a link on my page to yours or provide those clients who are unable to afford my readings with your information. I think this is great you are able to do this and will look forward to hearing from you.
In the past, when I performed a search for non profit medium work, I found that the websites who offer this, showed no proof of their tax exempt information. Which normally means...it is not tax exempt. It is a federal law that you must be able to provide proof to people that you are tax exempt.
In fact, I know of a rather large site that offers the donation type readings, I know it has been under investigation for the past 18 months for stating DONATIONS...however they send out a statement inside their emails about how important it is for potential clientele to make some kind of a donation because their mediums have families and bills.... Here is the problem... when those mediums go down...once again, it will make each and everyone of us look bad.
Our tax attorney did research for me just last year so that I could offer a pay scale for those who could not afford the prices I charge.
For medium/psychic work....I could not even offer lower prices for those who can't afford my posted prices.
It would be considered price gauging.
Also, to solicit non profit when you are not recognized by the government as such...you pay a high penalty. And to my knowledge, as well as our tax attorney.... without setting yourself up as a church, you can't take in donations for medium work.
If I am wrong...let me know. I would be fine with allowing those who cannot pay my listed prices, to submit a donation. Even if it is not to me. I would reroute the fee to a charitable organization.
Since I cannot scale clients according to what they earn... since I have run into road blocks about non profit work... I run random discounts on my website that is defitely affordable to anyone who feels they need the work I do to assist them in their healing.
I would certainly appreciate any information you can provide on how to go about legally offering my services with these inclusions. Vicki
