Quite stunning and beautiful, huh? Well, as her Mom I guess you could say that I am a little biased. :) I just wanted to give you some background on her art studies.

      Meia has been creating art since she was born. We started with finger paints as soon as I felt safe that she wouldn't put it in her mouth. By the time she was 2 years old she was working with clay and creating sculptures that would surprise even the best artists. She really likes the freeform characteristics that clay offers. She made a platform and fashioned little angels with wings to represent each member of our family, including our dog, when she was 6 years old. It was quite exceptional and is displayed in our home today. After I fired the piece we had to do a little gluing to re-attach some of the angel wings but the halos stayed on very well. She prefers to leave her sculptures in the bisque state to keep the organic nature that they have. 

      Meia began drawing with pencil, charcoal and colored pencil around the time she was 10 years old. She created something she calls tree people that I absolutely LOVE! They are full of emotion and have very human like qualities, very original! She also uses ink in a very unusual way. She draws her subject and takes her finger and spreads or feathers the ink to give it a dreamy appearance that is beautiful. As she has grown her talent has become extremely defined and very professional looking.

      She started painting with acrylics on canvas around 12 or 13 years old. She enjoys creating her own "characters" and they all have a mystical look to them. She never uses a picture to prompt her work, it all comes out of her beautiful mind. She also paints with oils and watercolors and has tried her hand at pastels. Meia has also created some stunning mixed media collages.

      Meia will be 16 years old in a month and I look forward to watching as her talents are expressed in many different mediums. I will try to post more of her work here in the future. I recently bought a digital camera and this will enable me to display her work more easily that using the scanner as I have done  in the past.

      Now, a little about Meia....

      She loves to help people and is generous with her time and attention. She is very bright and makes excellent grades in school. Learning has always come easy for her because she loves to challenge her teachers with questions about everything. She also gives me many things to think about! Meia is an Indigo Child and has a talent for finding other Indigos and helps them to understand themselves better. If you were to have a conversation without looking at her you would swear she was in her 40's or older because of her wisdom. She is my friend and I am blessed to know her. I hope, through her art work, you will feel the same. :)
